Moorfoots Paragliding Zone is that part of the Edinburgh Control Area extending from

Plain English – the Moorfoots Paragliding Zone is a triangle comprising the south east corner of Edinburgh CTA-4.  The actual SE corner of the CTA is a point close to Stow on the A7.  The line bisecting the CTA to form the long side of the triangle runs from a point near Gilston Farm on the B6368 between the A7 and A68 to a point just south of Eddleston where the A703 crosses the southern boundary of the CTA.  Most important visual guide – the zone starts behind the ridge close to and parallel to the B709 Heriot road.  The take off is NOT within the zone.  Vertical clearance at takeoff is 3500ft.  An XC from the Moorfoots towards the SE is subject to the following constraints.  (1)  Not above 3500ft until over the Heriot road.  From Heriot road to Stow , not above 4000ft, beyond Stow to edge of TMA, not above 5500ft.
